Fun Friday Factoids

28 May

This year’s survey of graduating seniors by the Cornell Office of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) included some stuff that warmed the cockles of my otherwise jaded librarian heart:

  • About 40% of ILR seniors felt that library resources and services contributed “quite a bit” or “very much” to their ability to evaluate the quality of information they found.
  • Over 60% of those seniors felt the library contributed “quite a bit” or “very much” to their ability to conduct research.
  • Over half gave the same ratings to our contribution to their efficiency.
  • And about 60% said we contributed “quite a bit” or “very much” to their academic success.

Approximately 50% of graduating seniors actually replied to this survey, and if I were to add in the folks who said we contributed “some” to the areas above, our stats would jump to the 85-90% range. I can’t help but be pleased with what this says about Catherwood, even if this year’s crew didn’t directly compare us to Vegas.
